Hi there!
We're Campfire Audio, a small team of audio lovers based in Portland, Oregon. Our mission is simple: to craft unique earphones that sound amazing and bring you closer to your music.
Our Story
We started Campfire Audio in 2015, but our roots go back a bit further. Our founder, Ken Ball, had been running ALO Audio, making high-end cables and portable amps (like the popular Continental Dual Mono). When we launched Campfire, we brought all that audio experience with us, plus a fresh perspective on what earphones could be.
Since then, we've created over 70 different in-ear monitors, along with cables and accessories. We've learned a ton along the way, and we're still just as excited about sound as we were on day one.
What We Believe
Sound That's Different
We're not big on following the rules. While a lot of companies chase the same target curve, we like to do our own thing. We pursue a wide range of sound signatures each product bringing its own unique perspective and philosophy. Some of our earphones are versatile all-arounders (like Clara, Andromeda 10, and Alien Brain). Others are bold and unique (like Trifecta, Astrolith, and Grand Luna). There's something for different tastes and moods.
Our Approach
We use what we call "organic tuning" to shape our sound. That means relying on elements like our TAEC technology instead of overloading drivers with restrictive electronics. We're always experimenting with new driver tech and materials to find exciting ways to make music sound better. At the end of the day, we make products that help you connect with your music in a deeper way. That's what drives us.
Crafted in Portland
Everything happens right here in southeast Portland. Design, engineering, IEM assembly, quality control, packing, and shipping all under one roof.
Our three-person engineering team - Ken, Vali, & Ben - has been with us since the beginning, designing every IEM we make. And our small production crew (fewer than five people) hand-assembles each earphone with serious skill and care. Most of them have been here for years, and it shows in the quality.
We're a team of just ten people total, and many of us have been here for over five years. Our team is comprised of passionate people that bring skill and personality to our products - musicians, artists, and creatives. We're a reflection of Portland's creative spirit, and we like it that way. Staying small lets us focus on what we do best.
