This guide explains what a DAC and amplifier do, when the upgrade is worth it, and how to match your source to your IEM.

What a DAC and Amplifier Actually Do

A DAC (digital-to-analog converter) converts the digital audio signal stored on your device into the analog signal an IEM driver can reproduce. Every playback device has one. The question is how well it performs.
